A cinematic phenomenon has multiple songwriters roaring up the ranks of hot hitmakers this week, all the while changing the music industry. Black Panther has raked in $361 million in the box office since its opening last Friday, but its the soundtrack, curated and produced by Kendrick Lamar, that's making waves.
Debuting on the Billboard 200 this week with over 200,000 sales, Black Panther: The Album plainly exhibits Lamar's reputation for social significance, attempting to reconcile the musical divide of generations.
But it's not just Lamar finding success in this crowning achievement. Mark Spears, cowriter on "Love," Black Panther," & "All The Stars" finds himself a Hot Hitmaker for the first time, trailing Kendrick closely in the No. 17 spot. And with contributions to The Weeknd & Kendrick Lamar's "Pray For Me," Adam Feeney takes the No. 11 spot.
