Hip Hop continues to break records, but Drake's latest album may be hard to beat. Especially considering that most hip-hop artists are opting for albums that may once have been called EPs.
Scorpion, on the other hand, contains 25 songs, all of which have debuted on the Billboard Hot 100. And that's not all. With Scorpion, Aubrey Graham has broken a record held by The Beatles since 1964 for the most concurrent Top 10 singles. They managed 5 that year. Graham has achieved 7.
To put these chart moves in perspective, that means 70% of the top 10 is Drake, as well as 25% of the entire Hot 100.
Pretty impressive, right? Such a feat doesn't come without some impressive sales numbers: over 1 billion streams in its first week, 573 million & 486 million on Spotify and Apple Music respectively. Yeah, he broke streaming records too.
But no one does it alone. Due to the success of the album, and each of its 25 songs, 11 songwriters see Hot Hitmakers glory this week, 9 of whom are debuts.
